Now we fancy Croatia - Anyone driven there, or eastern Italy??

Any advice would be great!

I'm afraid I can't offer any direct help, but this thread title caught my eye for a reason, and it mght be of use to you: Didn't The Long Way Round go via that part of the world and locate some great driving (riding) roads en-route? It was either that or a Top Gear trip, might be worth googling...

Not somewhere I have been...........yet! Had a look on google maps, potentially a lot of good stuff. A couple of roads that stuck out were routes 23 and 25 heading inland from the coast. And route 49 towards the east. It looks like a beautiful coastline and there is a road following the coast all the way down to the south.
You would also be passing by some great passes in NE Italy. Have a look North of Venice around the town of Corvara, and Slovenia has some good stuff on your way through.
Got a couple of pics from Google Earth, freshly resurfaced?

That'll do nicely - A donkey and cart coming the other way should spice things up nicely......

I've done Slovenia - it was cheap version of Austria
with cobbled mountain passes.

Much fun chasing Mercs and BMW from Klagenfurt to Jesenice,
around Pontebba and two laps of Lake Bled.

As ever, www.alpineroads.com has it all.

Some interesting WW1 battlefield stuff in the mountains too.
