Anybody know of a decent SMART repair centre in Brum?

Looking to get the MR2s chips taken away but don't fancy the franchise operation option.

Variance in quality of operator is the main reason.

I prefer somewhere where I have an idea of what to expect as opposed to a man with a van.

Well just to set the record straight you will have the same variance of quality with any company you go too...the key is too get recommendations and most chipsaway guys who have done over 3 years service would be a fair indication they will be ok as they wouldnt have lasted that long and made money to survive.
Bottom line is you are the punter and its your choice but dont be too dismissive towards a very good service thats available and very competitively priced smile

I used Chipsaway HQ in Kidderminster, they made a good job on a scratched bumper.

No offence meant to anyone but I'm a bit wary about these things and searching PH gave me the following from a Chipsaway guy:

"Some ChipsAway operators are essentially unqualified, with no paintwork experience beyond 10 days training from ChipsAway, and an attitude to customer service that (at least reading some of the bad stories that have been posted here) seems to be what they can get away with without losing their licence. At least one ChipsAway business is run by an Oxbridge graduate, and a DeVilbiss qualified paint sprayer with over 10 years experience, and has got their guarantee and customer charter OFT-approved. There is a whole spectrum of experience, professionalism and commitment to quality."

Knowing my luck I'd end up with the wrong end of the spectrum coming to deal with me so I thought I'd ask for recommendations. I'll look into the Kiddy operation as it's not too far from and it seems that is where the training takes place.

Thanks both.

I've noy used the Kidder branch of Chipsaway, but the main man these (so sorry I forget his name) has always been very professioanl and helpful.

I will be taking my Freelander 2 down there to look at the rear bumper. IIRC it's the training centre for the world?!

Good luck, let us know how it goes eh?

h3rbi3/ Steve are you still about? I'm based in the centre of Birmingham, and some censored has decided to give my paintwork a tickle with a set of keys. While it's not very deep, it would be good to get sorted and do a few stonechips at the same time if it's not too expensive; let me know if you're around and maybe you can give a quote.

Book your car in at Kiddy and there is an 80% chance it will be repaired by one of the trainees with <10 days experience. wink

You are better off vetting one of the franchisees in terms of experience.
