Great pics, thanks for posting. Was the 98T doing a demo run? I can't imagine someone putting it up up the hill in anger?

It looked like there was plenty of room for spectators?

That's me with the chock in that picture. By far the loudest car that's ever been up the hill. By the end of sunday the driver was getting the hang of it and was significantly quicker than those videos show. That car looks a right handful, you could hear him spin the wheels in 3rd on the way over the finish on Sunday afternoon. Would be great to see it being driven on the hill by one of the championship regulars.

Here's a video of the last two runs of the Lotus. Done by Richard at www.2t4t.co.uk who does similar on the top Hiilclimb championship cars, his site is well worth a visit.

Great vid. You can tell the car is too laggy, too long geared although I counted the seconds on the youtube video and the time doesn't seem too bad for Prescott!

Just for everyones reference (as I've been asked about this rather a lot) The Lotus gearing at present is thus:

1st - 67.2mph
2nd - 100.3mph
3rd - 130.5mph
4th - 159.4mph
5th - 187.1mph

The rev limiter on the car is selectable and these figures are for the lower limit of 10,600 which is the more sensable for Prescott where you get into a lot of wheel slip.

The reason for the fitted gearing is that we run a lot of different tracks with this car and gearing for each event is a considerable headach as you have little data to work from. It takes about two days to prep the car for an event and anywhere between one and five days to sort it out afterwards so there is a bit of having to be realistic about how much you change per circuit.

1st is the lowest ratio I have avalable to ensure wheelslip off the line and thus save the clutch life a little. The rest are a senable spacing that caters for the long strights at Barcelona/magny-cours.

Regarding the lag (and obviously this isn't the ideal hill climb car!) Martin Brundle, who had driven a Renault engined Tyrell, reconed it was significantly better than the 85 engine and not nearly as laggy as he expected. There is a wonderfull progressive guide vain system mounted to the compressor inlet that seems to work very well.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed it - we thought it was a teriffic weekend.

We ran 3.4 bar just to keep things on the safe side. Gary was still wheel spinning in third as he crossed the start finish line...

I was really keen that we had the race boost settings rather than neuter the engine - power was what they were all about - so we have the five settings ranging from 3.4 to 4 bar. I doubt we will ever use 4 bar but it's nice to know the option is there.
