Hi all, more questions!
Just checking it wont be a concern. Looking at buying a 7 type car but I dont have a garage. I have a place on the drive waiting so I was going to get one with wet weather top and get an expensive breathable cover as well. Do you think I will have troubles with it essentially being open to the eliments. Mould, plastics going brittle, GRP aging? Do any of you always keep you car under just a cover. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Oh security wont be an issue. I live down a quiet road and will have it chained to the floor with alarm.

Not recommended until the garage is built for all the reasons you've mentioned.
Also the covers do more harm than good when used outside, the wind makes them rub against the body damaging it. they are good for inside a garage should you want to "lay it up for the winter" keeps off the dust etc.

Agree with the above. Had one inspected last week which had been stored under cover outside and it had very dull paintwork, scratches and rub marks on every panel where the cover was rubbing and general corrosion issues with all the suspension components and chassis.

could you build a car-port to keep the rain off......cars in carports generally fair better than those in most garages (unless properly climate controlled)....

i posted this same topic three times, whoops. Check out the other posts because some comments say that covers are fine. I have found out since that there are unused garages less than 1 min from my house. Ill put posters up at a later date in the area and offer pennies. Worth a try.thanks for the responses though. Still think a cover is an option. I would protect th car with towels and dehumidifiers to prevent as much damage as possible.
