I'm looking for a B6 S4. Ideally a black saloon with as many useful options as possible.
Seems difficult to locate these.
I've seen a number of red S4 at reasonable money. I think they look fine, are they valued less than other colours?
Thanks in advance.

I have one, and there are 2 in the PH classifieds.

Mine's light metallic silver, I know that doesn't help but I like it.

Moro Blue is pretty dark if it helps adding this to the list?

Red is great BTW.

Red is a difficult colour on an S4, surprisingly we do quite well with silver as well as the usual suspects.

When I bought my S4 I was looking for black but bought one in Moro blue - both great colours on the car and you see less around in Moro. Worth looking at even if you discount the colour after - all personal choice sir!

Indeed all are personal choices - I've just bought myself a red one (picked it up on Friday) after looking since December ! Looking for the right spec took a long time but I'm glad I waited!

Every single car I have ever owned has been black, white, or a version of grey. So I was determined to get a car "of colour" hehe

I think if you are going for an avant or saloon will depend also on your colour choice - some look better (in my opinion) on one than the other. See some cars, make your choice, then hold out for your colour choice smile

Silver surprises me - in my head, it looks too much like any other A4, but then again perhaps that's the look that people enjoy. I like that the red one looks a bit different from all the others, but then again - horses for courses, as they say biggrin

Thanks for the input guys.
To Dr G, does difficult mean harder to sell?
I actually quite like the red and the spec of some of those for sale is very good, might be a good bargaining point re price? Comparing like for like red vs black was approx £2k on autotrader and pistonheads ( does this seem possible or just a freak of pricing?)
I tend to keep cars so resale is not that much of an issue.
Also have only looked at an estate, is the rear seat space as poor in the saloon as the estate?
Thanks again

There was a red car on autotrader for the past couple of months, up north somewhere - private sale, red avant, auto, few options which was up for sale for something like £16,500. It was perhaps £1.5 - 2k overpriced (in my opinion), so do beware of that. It was good spec but I didn't even bother ringing let alone offering anything.

The right car in the wrong colour, is better than wrong car in the right colour.

I like the subtlety, I have a had a Black '09 Plate A4 S-Line while mine has been in for some work and I feel like a right attention seeking tosser driving it.

Red does look good, there was one in Stratford Audi today and it looked great.

Bang on.

PH Classifieds aren't a particularly useful price guide very often as they tend to be populated with 'enthusiast owner' prices.

I'd be surprised if red/black was 2k different on a car of that age but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a grand between otherwise identical cars.

We are thinking of selling our black Avant, fitted with a bunch of good options. Drop me a PM if you want more info.

Just for a bit of info on prices at the mo, I was offered £20k for my black S4 avant with 34000 miles on the clock with a 3 K discount off of a new S4 avant. I was pleasantly surprised with the offer and the dealer told me that they are paying top prices at the minute due to shortage of stock.

(The new S4 is an awesome bit of kit.)

Do you have any idea how much mine would be worth? They seem to vary wildly... It's a manual Avant in Light metallic silver with the nappa Leather interior and most of the options (Bose Sound, Cruise, Cool Box, heated Recaros, Tracker Parking sensors etc etc). 80K with full Audi Service history. Thinking about trading for something diesel now that i have the Beemer for fun.

Couldn't really say (price wise) but mine is a B7 phantom black 06 plate with a similar spec to you, the only things i don't have are satnav, heated seats and the cool box - mine's a manual as well. But it is pretty much in showroom condition apart from 2 marks on my front alloys.
Not sure whether the mileage affects them a lot or not.

Good luck and enjoy your diesel !
