Wrote off my car last week, not a TVR but it has an RV8 with a R380 box, which is undamaged.
I believe that I can buy back the salvage and wondered if, it would be worthwhile, and if anyone is interested in the power unit?
Spec is---- 4.8litre, balanced, crossbolted, forged pistons, all ARP fasteners, All internals new, inc Cloyes timing gear, stumppuller cam, Hi rev lifters, rockers etc; New injectors last week!
All machine work and head mods were done by Rovercraft, rest is Real Steel.
BHP is 279, torque 448 nm when last on rollers, covered less than 7000 miles.

let it go or buy back?

500 engines often go for £3000+ but these are TVR units. Would have thought plenty of folk would snap your engine up for around this figure.

If it's a good'un, fetch it. Really well built RV8s are kind of hard to get by.

I'm curious to know why you have used a stump puller cam in an engine with such a highly specced bottom end. Is this designed for forced induction?

When I read the spec the first time I assumed it must have been for a Rangie or a similarly heavy vehicle - but then again the bottom end spec would indeed suggest either high revs, high compression or F/I...

When I built it I was apprehensive about how it would rev with the long stroke, so thought that I would play safe with a torquey cam, however it revs well, no problem and was happy with the power!
