Hi, a bit of my drivers seat has broken away. It is the plastic almost triangle shaped cover on the side of the seat that has the back adjustment lever poking out. Technical name escapes me.

Tried Douglas Valley but they said they would not remove that from one of their cars.

Anyone got any ideas or indeed one of these in their shed gathering spiders webs ?

Thanks

There was a guy on a thread here just last week (and also in the PH ads) who was trying to give away a couple of these - I wrongly identified them as seat-belt retractor coverings.

Russ,

Thanks, emailed Lee and fingers are crossed.

Will take a pic of mine tonight as I don't remember them being so curved at the back.

Back to the drawing board - someone has promised L33 to collect the bits from him soon.

Anyone else have an idea where to get one from to cover the drivers seat mechanism ?

Douglas Valley wont sell one and L33s are spoken for.

Cheers

You could always do what I did when I couldn't get one for one of my cars and that's make one providing it's not too complicated.

I took a mould of one mine from the other seat using some modeling clay and then used the mould to make one out of fibreglass resin and tissue and then spayed it to match the others.

Just find any old British heap mouldering away in a scrapyard, I'd put money on more than half of the output of the non-Ford factories using the same covers. That's because the TVR seats were made by Callow and Maddox (Cambro) in Coventry, who also did stuff for Triumph, Jaguar et al, and is the reason why so many people over the years have claimed TVR used seats from TR6/7/Stag/XJ etc... they didn't, but the seats were all made from the same bits.
Lotus were clever with the Esprit: by having non-tilting seats they shaved about 50% off the weight, in line with Colin Chapman's philosophy that if you build a car light, you don't need a lot of power to shift it. You can easily pick up an Esprit seat with one hand.
