Hi, I have a 4 year old Speedmaster Professional which is a bit under the weather. The stopwatch is permanently on and the button is unable to be depressed to stop it. The rest of the watch is working fine but it is very annoying not being able to turn it off.

My question is does anyone know where I could get this fixed or should I send it to Omega? I was quoted by a Omega dealer is London £300 for a service! I wasn't expecting it to be cheap but I was imagining around £200. Anyone had any experience with this before?

Cheers guys!

However it will come back looking as good as it did the day you bought it. If the watch is 4 years old then it is about due (they recommend every 5 years) so bite the bullet and get it done I say.

Was this at Bond Street? If not then worth giving them a call as they are able to do some servicing on the premises.

It was actually the Omega dealer at the Shepherds Bush Westfield. I will try Bond Street though.

The price of it is sure going to sting, but if it comes back looking fresh then that is a bonus I agree.

Not used these guys personally, as my own Speedie doesn't need a service yet, but they get a good rep on the WIS forums.

Maybe worth a call to get a quote.

Thanks for the help with this one guys. Looks like it's going to hurt my wallet but at least my Speedy will be back to full health!

I haven't used them myself, but STS does have a good reputation over on TZ-UK and do wonderful work, so I'm told anyway

I had a problem with my Speedmaster (chrono button wouldn't depress and I could see a little 'pin' floating around loose through the case back).

I sent it to http://www.martinsjewellers.co.uk/ and got it repaired/serviced for £110, I think it was. Can't fault the work, though because of some problems they had with sickness and holidays, the original estimate of 3-4 weeks turned into 10-12 weeks.

Cheers for that. I will contact them later.

So Swiss Time Services are well thought of then? I contacted them yesterday and they replied fairly quickly saying that I would have to post the watch to them first before they could get any idea of how much it would cost. Would have thought they'd be able to give some indication of a ballpark price? But then I'm no expert!
