Basic cleaning

Before I start I just want to apologise; I am not a serious detailer. I like a clean car but I don't want to go to the lengths some of the people on here go. This is not a criticism at all - I have utmost respect for those people who want to spend all day (or even days) cleaning (sorry, detailing) their cars.

Anyway, I used Zymol shampoo (which I'm happy with) and have had some Zymol polish bought for me. I have not used it before and before someone tells me it's not the best, I don't want to know - I know there are better out there but it's not that cheap so I'm gonna use it!!!

My question is about waxing. I've never waxed a car before, presuming this was another word for polishing but it obviously isn't. So I'd like to give it a go. So, what wax should I go for? Something I can buy from Halfords ideally. And not something which is £1,000+ a pot please!!

If it has to be stuff from Halfords / local motor factors, then the Autoglym HD wax is it. The rest of the stuff you can get from halfords is a bit pants if you ask me. For the sake of ordering something off line and waiting a day it's a much better idea.

But the AG HD wax is about £40. Dodo waxes are about £30 a tub and are superb and will far outperform the AG HD wax. The poorboys nattys at about £12 a tub is stunning value for money and makes anything of similar value from halfords a complete waste of time. It gives a great look, lasts well and above all for someone who's not wanting to spend hours waxing after they've washed their car it's a great on / off product.
