Drove the car 30miles to work this morning. No problem. Car's been on the car park all day. Started it this evening to go home and both the EML warning light and the ASC (Traction Control)light are on. Car feels like it's only running on 4 pots. Engine won't rev and it will only move jerkily at walking pace.
I disconnected the battery for a couple of mins to try and reset the ECU but that made no difference. I've sent for the RAC, but wonder if there's anything else I can try at the roadside?. I stand to be corrected, but suspect the fault may lie with the electronic throttle gubbins.

To reset the ECU you need to leave it disconnected for 20mins+, in my experience. But, I think you need the fault codes read anyway, you may get it going again but something's not quite right. HTH

While I waited for the RAC (about whom I intend to rant in another thread) I disconnected the battery again. When I reconnected it 3o mins later, I'd got rid of the faults and was able to drive home.

Tomorrow, I'll book it in at the dealers to be looked at.

I wondered that: used them a while back, when they were up the hill in Grange - was pretty impressed TBH, compared to the average down here...

I've been on holiday, so car didn't get fixed until yesterday. The diagnosis was a faulty throttle housing. Apparently it houses 2 potentiometers and is a sealed unit that can't be repaired. It's now been replaced and car is running fine
