VXR8 Offer - its Monaro VXR all over again

See in the classifieds Picador are offering brand new VXR8 6.2 LS3 model for 27k give or take a fiver in any colour for a limited time. Looks like someone needs to shift some stock so the bargains are there to be had. Just bought a new one and paid over 30k for it - how scunnered are you feeling right about now?
So its gone from a firm "vauxhall said" £0 discount 18 months ago, when I was originally interested in a new VXR8, to a firm "nothing less than £33K" from Picador 2 months ago to about £8k off list...
As you say, clearly VX need to clear some stock, but once the new prices drop that much there aint no going back and our second hand prices are gonna suffer even more for sure!

Fairs fair - circumstances are a bit different I think.
Dealerships are stuggling so there are deals out there.
2nd hand values took a hammering anyway - they are actually picking up.
Before christmas the highest I was offered for a sept 07 vxr8 was 16k. Now I'm looking at offers in the region of 19k - 20k so for 6 months more driving I've gained a possible 3k.

Used prices are about to start heading south again, the auctions have quietened right down and very few people are bidding into book for cars now and the guides in the coming months will reflect this.
If its only a limited offer through the dealer then it wont hit the used values, if it sticks and goes nationwide then yes the used values will take a quick hammering after 3 months or so.

Problem is you will miss the boat, the market has been picking up since Jan and hugely so in March/April but its about to start going the other way.

haven't bought one - yet! My comment above was a question for those that have recently bought one. Have to say though I'm going to look into it - well as soon as the sales guy phones me back to talk trade in values. Thinking of getting rid of monaro and astra and running the Oz vectra as a daily driver. Will see how numbers look, could mean I've got a supercharger for sale.
well just got word today on trade in value of my 04 cv8 with circa 25k miles - hope you're all sitting down - was offered 7k against one of the discounted VXR8's. Apparently thats a 3k drop since the announcement was made of the offer.....Advice was to sell privately - of course there's the slight problem the offers only on until end of June and a lot of the cars that have been up for sale recently have taken a couple of months to shift. From what the salesman was saying he's phoning a lot of people in the same position and upsetting a few with the trade in values on offer.

well they have gone up in the guide for 4 months in a row so cant be bad news! Cant see a reason to offer so far off trade price on one.
no way I'm letting it go for 7k, have to be insane to do that, fs I'd get more selling it for spare parts! Sales guy did say he'd sold 6 last week so maybe he doesnt want anymore Monaros traded in atm, could simply be covering his ass and putting off anyone wanting to trade in another Ro until he clears what he has in stock?
