nisan silvia s14a???
Discussion
..at least i think thats what iv bought....any info..??...its a 96 import, n/a engine, manual and really, really clean and so involving to drive compared to my old 20vt coupe.....what is the standard power and perfomance for one of these beasties....it seems to pull really well for a heavy old rwd n/a car....though nothin compared to the fiat....id just like some info/links on these cars...i THINK mine is a 14a and might be a k spec as it has the side skirts, rear spoiler and big cross spoke alloys....any info much appreciated, cheers, gbn..
96 was the cross over year for S14/S14a in the UK dunno about imports.
skirts would indicate an S14a but not necessarily as they could be aftermarket fitted. The easiest way to tell is to look at the bonnet and headlights.
S14 - headlights are pretty much the same height across the whole width, S14a are much narrower to the centre of the car - giving it a 'slitty eyed' more agressive look
Go an look on here - they have a dedicated "import s body section"

Having owned 8 s14's in my car history and currently having an S15, the best advice i can give you is: Unless your getting it for under £800. If it's an S14 N/A (ie, none turbo) then don't bother. It can be the cleanest car in the world, but if it doesnt' have an SR20DET engine then you may aswell throw your money down the toilet as you'll never pull it back out.
The SR20DE (none turbo) is a world away in power terms to the DET and frankly once you have driven the turbo version, you won't want one.
Get the turbo version and you won't be disapointed.

its the s14a....and i have bought it....for outright go iv got my 20vt fiat, i bought the nissan as an entertaining back road blaster...and although i bow to your superior knowledge, i doubt youd buy a car like this one for £800 or less....i may be proved wrong though haha..i paid £1400 for the car..maybe too dear, who knows, time will tell eh??.

well, picked the beastie up and am liking it....its way to bloody noisy with that exhaust, and the exhaust needs to be fitted properly as it sometimes touches and cuases a resonance....but the car goes really well for a n/a engine, feels very involvoing, needs revved and revs all the way to 7k easily and with a great noise....it feels so planted in the corners too, much firmer than my coop... dunno what im gonna do with th damn thing right enough...keep it as a toy, further improve it, sell it on.....??..answers on a postcard haha

I am not sure why you bought it. The Fiat Coupe is a sporty car. I guess you could use it for drift days?
im a magpie buyer haha...cant help myself....a man can never have enough toys...the coupe is a great car, i love it, but its not the best fun on the twisties, sure it grips, but its not the most refined handler..the nissan just seems so much more fun on the back roads....Edited by anonymous-user on Thursday 28th May 17:05

in reality, im thinking if i can find a dry garage nearby im keeping the fiat cos ijust want to use it on high days and holidays and dont wanna press it into daily use again...20k trouble free miles i put on the car already!!....the nissan...mm...im selling a couple of other cars so if they go, i may add some handling kit to the car, strut braces, cage etc...and strip it out for a weird daily driver haha....
if i cant find storeage for fiat, it will probably have to go again at some point....
