Water Pump

Just about to replace the fan and hoses on my 4.0 pre-cat and was wondering whether it makes sense to replace the water pump at the same time. Looking on the net on Car part websites and Ebay and there seems to be a huge difference in price for it. Anybody know which model the pump came from, and what the price should be?

There is no nead to replace the water pump just for the sake of it, unless of course it is damaged or leaking!

You may well disrupt the gasket to the timing chain cover as some of the bolts go through it into the block. Its what happened when I did the same.

Maybe if the car has done hundreds of thousands but if the pump shows no sign of disrepair then don't bother.

I replaced mine as the bearing was on its way out, bought it from a shop on ebay, cant remember which one, but fitted perfectly and only about £26.
