not this year.. going to the Classic LeMans next year....... I find Lemans getting a bit too crowded and chavy (with all those Ultima GTR's) - very few of the upmarket spyders there! But enjoy. Do you know about this:

Great meeting every year. Well worth going.

Thanks for the link Paul.
Went to that last time and had a good time there but could not remember the name of the place.
In my TomTom now as a favorite.

I've tried emailing you which bounced and the mobile number I have for you don't work. Can you drop me a mail mate?

Myself, Paul_b, Andygtt & Tuxman are all camping at chateau-de-chanteloup which is about as far North of the circuit as Ecommoy is South of the circuit.

We will get down there midday Thursday.

I do not intend to visit the annual 24 hour race ever again but instead, after attending the Classic last year, am more than interested in making the bi-annual trip to spend time with like minded folk in a conducive environment surrounded by interesting cars yes Oh yes, and the racing is fairly interesting too with cars that I can relate to with more variation. Never the less, the site at Cantaloupe is great ( and that is saying something as I really do not like camping ) The only thing that I will miss is the company: Have a good time fellas thumbup

I was going to fly down there but you need a permit to land off airport (at a hotel, campsite, field etc) and I've just found out it take 3 months to come though.
So that's that out the window.

If anyone has a spare seat I'd be up for it, I could give you a few shekels for fuel or better still the promise of some free helicopter charter smile

Cars packed - leaving home about 21:30 (Not the Ultima unfortunately frown Shoulkd still be ok with about 420 supercharged German Stallions! driving )

Only just got the BMW ready for the trip. A huge thanks to the Prof for his help yesterday. Maybe biting off a new suspension set up, new radiator new front and rear brakes was a bit ambitious? And when the front wheels clashed on the shinny new coil-overs!!!! You start to wonder if you ain't going? A little bad language was mumbled, and that was just Steve!

All done and sorted now (thanks to Wayne this time) and had time to clean the car.

See you all there ...........

woohoo

There are a couple of small airports which will accept A/C at short notice but they are 40-50miles from the venue.
........About 7 years ago I was going at short notice from Blackpool, with a replacement screen for a TVR (broken during early saturday heats). Unfortunately the whole thing was called off minutes before departure as the repair was considered structural and therefore not allowed...... twas a serious fiasco trying to find somewhere to land during event weekend!
As Pete said, slots are booked month's in advance.
French ATC do like to do things their way!

Well, we made it back late sunday night..

Wish i took the Ultima! The bus journey was one of the most boring trips i've ever had.. Limited to 62mph., it seemed to take an eternity.

I thought there were probably about 20% less people there than previous years. not sure why that was?

Weather was great.

Only a few more days and i'll be getting married... I'm taking the Utima to that so i'll give it a nice shine :-)

See Wayne's post above... We didn't go this year either due in part to stupidity in the camp site last year, one of our gang had his tent driven through at 3am by a chap in a range rover trying to do doughnuts....

That and the French Police but that's another story....

Good luck with the wedding clap....bowtie....clap
