Im just wondering if anyone knows what may be causing the MIL Lamp to come on, it came on during a short run of around 60 miles and has stayed on since. Only tried restarting the car a few times.

I havent noticed any difference in how the engine is running except when the car is idling, it doesnt idle constant anymore and hunts a few hundred RPM.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Could be as little as the catalytic converter not hitting emission. Do you have a sports or race cat on? Probably best to get to a dealer and let them read your ECU for the exact cause of the MIL light.

If it's just on (no blinking) it's probably nothing much.

My car was revving at 1200 during idle which caused the MIL light to come on (error code reading confirmed it was high revs). I have sinced had the idle valve control cleaned (soaked in carb spray) and the car is idling fine now, plus MIL light has not reappeared.

Visited the dealer and got the code read. Turned out to be high oxygen sensor but no idea why it had came up. The code cleared and has not reappeared and idling has returned to normal.
