Hi chaps,

This is a bit of a long shot, but we're looking for our old car so we may see if we can buy it back.

It's a '52 plate black BMW 330i Sport Touring with black leather and 18" MV's. It was slightly tuned by way of a Gruppe M style carbon intake and a Miltech cat-back exhaust - all this was done by Ray @ West Tuning down at Thruxton.

If anyone knows where it is, please get in touch.

Cheers,

DTC

That's an odd comment and rather assumptive to say the very least confused

Put your sense of humour hat on, and read it again.

What have you been driving since you last owned it?

There will be plenty of better E46 tourings currently for sale...

Go away. If you are unable to contribute to the thread please don't bother. What we have been driving since we last owned it is totally irrelevant as the car was special to us. My sense of humour hat is in fine fettle but doesn't find usless posts when help is asked for constructive. I bit like yours really.

Like our old car? No there aren't. There's one that comes close, but has grey leather and none of the mild upgrades (of course). Also, we don't want an auto or a diesel.

Why the assumptive post also? Do you know how our old car has been treated, therefore know where it is?

Hi drop

My apologies. The reason to ask what you have been driving since is to my mind a valid one. My point was that although I am sure the original response to your post was meant in jest (hence the humour hat comment), it raises a potentially valid point. I would also have to think a little before buying back something I thought was good in the past. In general it also raises the question of how long since you owned the car, how has it been treated etc. - there are lots of potential issues that may make the experience of owning the car again less "sweet". I would also stress that it does depend on what you have been driving since, because if it is a Renault Espace for example (or something else that drives in an inferior fashion) then it is far likelier to be as you remember it.

I would still maintain that you have totally misunderstood the "tongue-in-cheekness" of the replies that raise (potentially) valid points. Unlike you, I do not get upset over these things that happen on the internet - so I wish you good luck in finding the car and that in the event that you do, the experience is as you remember it.

Just seems odd to want to buy back what is just a mainstream car - when you originally sold it. The modifications are easy to replicate.

We don't care if you think it's odd. We liked that car and it's as simple as that. Yes, it is mainstream, but how many in black with black leather with all the options were made for the UK market? Bugger all, that's how many.

What is odd is that the BMW forum has been useless with regard to this post, whereas other folk elsewhere have actually been helpful. Go figure.

Sounds like some people are FAR too sensitive these days, i think this thread would have just been best left empty to disappear into nowhere - i'm sure the original poster would have been far happier then lol

I think there is a genuine curiosity as to why anyone would want to buy back their old car. No need to be grumpy!

It's odd. I ask a simple question and instead of helpful replies I get folk with so called 'wit'. None of my posts have been grumpy with regard to this thread and personal insults such as 'mong' is really rather funny. Perhaps vincenz should look up freudian projection? I have posted this thread elsewhere and the humour is good and other posts constructive - why so different here? Perhaps it's just todays BMW drivers (on PH)? No wonder there's a stigma attached to BMW drivers and their attitudes.

Here's the rub - perception is key (from both sides, admittedly. If a post is meant in jest/with humour, why not post as such and use smilies etc? At least then the incorrect perception can be avoided.

It may be a long shot. But have you tried contacting any BMW dealerships? Not sure how the dealerships communicate. Could be a chance that it has been through the dealership network since you sold it and they have it on record.

Hi - thanks for the suggestion thumbup

I called all the nearby BMW main dealers (Vines, Barons, etc) this morning and they have not serviced it. An indy garage must be looking after it now. The BMW main dealers don't seem to have a nationwide communications network with regard to servicing and car records - d-oh!

Still, I've spoken with a nice chap who's looking into tracking the car down for us (outside of the dealer network). Fingers crossed...

Cheers,

DTC smile
