Meatballs & Whisky Sauce
Discussion
Purchased some Beef Meatballs the other night with the intention of doing them with a tomato & onion sauce + pasta.
However on returning home I discovered I had no tomatoes, tinned or otherwise.
The decision was made to fry the meatballs and add chopped onions/mushrooms to the pan.
Then a good slug of whisky from the cupboard & stir in a carton of cream from the fridge + a good bit of seasoning.
Result was pretty damn good and we'll be having it again.

Or cupboards.
Did you flambe the whisky or just boil the alcohol off?
Just boiled off the alcohol.Did you flambe the whisky or just boil the alcohol off?
re the whole cupboard / cabinet thing.
It is in the cupboard as it is not a whisky I would have on display or offer a guest to drink.
One could class it as "Cooking Whisky" as it gets brought out for toddies and the like.
(Don't know why I felt the need to tell all where it come from in the first place)
