The saga continues...

Having just sorted out the logistics so it probably would be possible to take the TVR (I need to ferry some stuff over for work) a new issue has loomed. I'm planning to sell the car in the near future and a few weeks back it occured to me that it was still register to my old address and this might worry some people. So I sent the logbook off to the DVLA. It still hasn't come back.

I can hear the gendarmes rubbing their hands with glee already at the lack of a V5, so might have to go in the daily driver. frown

You can get a V5 issued at your local DVLA office for free if its been lost by the DVLA in the post...

If not it'll cost you £25 smile

Useful to know...still waiting for my V5 from the DVLA! frown I even called them and they said it's been sent...this was over a week ago!! I know that they use 2nd class post but it shouldn't take that long FFS! rolleyes

I'll give em' 'til early next week then I'll have to go to local DVLA!

Ron, you have to get the car fixed (and of course with all relevant documents) now as Gary has been told his new tyres are on backorder and wont be available until after Le Mans!

Just don't get caught speeding and you won't have to produce.

Car is with Talkwrench as we speak....should be back early next week.

Looks as if it's actually the upper cam cover seal rather than the lower one that's leaking...a bit more difficult to get at apparently but still not too serious thank f**k! smile

...That's exactly what the gendarmes will do if they find out, isn't it? smile

I thought they were prone to doing spot checks of anything UK registered.

You don't need to worry, it was three years before I took more than the green card!

Half the time Les Flics haven't a clue what they're looking at. If you take your insurance and licence, you'll be fine.

Stop being a wimp!

Completely OT, so sorry. Do you 2 want to meet up at Rich's next Wednesday evening to go through stuff (routes, packing lists etc.)?

My reg was transferred at DVLA Beverly on 5th May, still waiting for my V5, what do you reckon my chances are Burriana? I've tried calling, but its the usual government type automated system that eventually refers you to a web site and another form to fill in!!!

clap

Guess what came in the mail this morning.

Technically I think that's the first ever instance of the DVLA working fractionally ahead of schedule. Serious stuff!

Now that just leaves the weather and the issue of how to fit 250 magazines and a collapsable display unit in. biggrin

Called the DVLA again today and now they tell me it was sent on 14th May...but to a completely different address to mine!!! Feck knows how they've managed that as I filled the V5 in with the seller when I bought it at the end of Feb! Now I've got to go to the local DVLA to get a Temporary Certificate of Registration to take to Le Mans which is gonna cost me £3 plus the fuel and time to get there! irked

When I originally called to check and they asked me for my address they never mentioned it then...fecking incompetent civil servants!

Found a very simple (if not entirely ideal) solution to this problem over the weekend.

Two days after the V5 turned up I sold the car.

Absolutely gutted as I loved it, but my requirements have changed somewhat and I need the space for something different.

So, Focus to Le Mans it is. At least I'll have aircon. smile
