Invergordon: Show me, tell me, recommend me
Discussion
Please.
I've cross-posted this in The Lounge too but brought it here for maximum exposure.
Apologies if you've seen it twice.
Going up to Invergordon in The Highlands of Scotland.
Never been been before so don't know anything about it or where to stay, etc.
Anyone got any knowledge of the place and/or recommendations.
Preferably a guest house/B&B for one week from 15th June for 2 people.
Thanks in advance.

You going rig spotting?
Well Vicky, it's slightly different from the dirty weekend you were asked about in the lounge

I don't want to give the impression that I'm that sad...

Well if all those comments haven't put you completely off, a link to my mate's parents' place is advertised here if it's any use;

Tarbet is a bit further along the coast.
But echoing all the rest of the replies, if you want a sample of the Highlands and have never been, Invergordon isn't the choice! Its a service depot for oil rigs and is not a postcard highland town. If you want to go about that area i would suggest Cromarty on the Black Isle or head up to Dornoch (Grannies Healin hame is up that way also). I was brought up in that neighbourhood as well.
East cost and west coast are very different, both have their own redeeming qualities though.
What are you wanting from a trip up?

Sorry for not responding earlier guys/girls.
Not rig spotting no, it's a family funeral.
It's actually in Barbaraville but was told Invergordon nearby.
I'll look at that link to the cottage, thanks.
I'm going to chat to family about your comments and maybe rethink where to stay.
Sounds like there are much better places closer by.
Thanks again and sorry I hijacked your forum just for free advice.

Watch the shore road between Alness and Invergordon its gone from a NSL to a 50mph! Police patrol it like rats as many motorists think that the two 50 signs are added together to allow one to drive at a ton! The roads at the back of Ardross are ace and just in general are awesome! I've pretty much learned the dark out of drifting upon these roads (I'm telling porkies Mr BiB) but truth is the back roads are tight twisty and empty.
People are local but if your kind to them they'll be kind back, so don't start trouble or the cousins cousins sisters aunts will be aftet you! The Marine bar is great food iirc the roast is awesome!!! The views are amazing lots of Scottish history and WW2 history with the Sunderland and Catalinas! Just a note whilst I remember if they are painting the rigs in the dock watch because believe it or not it carries the droplets for miles and can ruin your paintwork.
If you get bored check out Fyrish its the hill in the distance with the monument its a great walk and it has breathtaking views!!! But if you don't like walking, theres always Inverness which has everything! So its not that remote...
