I'm pissed off. Speed bumps are evil, especially when they have worn on the 'other' side. I went over one today and the wheels dropped into the worn patch, resulting in a splitter/tarmac interface at around 15mph (in a 30 limit).

Can anyone recommend somewhere reasonable to get this done in the Worthing area that won't charge me a fortune? I'm going to pursue the council where this occurred (Thames Ditton, so whoever the council is for that area) but I don't hold out much hope of getting cash back from them, ergo I don't want to fork out lots to repair it if I can help it.

Speed bumps are stupid and should be banned. furious

there's a product called dr colourchip. it may do enough to hide it until you come to sell the car. chances are if it's happened once with a speed bump it could happen again.

the route of action i'd take would be to polish as much of the lighter marks out as possible, then apply the dr colour chip.

or a good smart repairer should be able to sort that out. Anatol should be able to recommend one for you thumbup

That's an ideal spot for a smart repair. Any good smart repairer will make that completely vanish in about an hour for less than £100, and they will provide a reciept which can be presented to the council for compensation.
Ask around, there is probably a reputable mobile smart repairer in your area.
Check out companies like Color Tec, Colorworks or Chips Away, but try to find some happy customers before you go with someone.

Thanks for that, good to know it's not going to be horrendously expensive. I'm thinking about asking Tom (Guam) whether he can make me a 'scuff-guard' from some off-cuts... It's likely to happen again sadly - the car's only 6 weeks old..!

Just as a footnote, its quite an awkward smart repair for a couple of reasons, they are, if its done mobile it will need putting up on axle stands and even then youd be working partially blind (no jokes please wink also the gravity fed guns have a bit dificulty working upside down. That said its not impossible. If you do do it this way, the usual rules apply, get someone by recommendation.

A cheaper fix for that than keeping a spare side-feed are flexible lid-liners like 3M's PPS. Actually does work as advertised - completely inverted.

Anatol, you've been mentioned by others in that you might be able to recommend someone local to me who could be trusted to carry this work out. Any ideas?

Thanks for all the input so far folks. smile

Hi Funk,

West Sussex is a bit out of my stomping grounds - I'm afraid I don't know anyone in that part of the country whose work I can personally vouch for...

Have you tried asking in your local regional forum?

Very similar thing has happened to mine.

I just thought fk it, it's not like it's not going to potentially happen again.
