Is it too late do you think to think about planning to go THIS year?

I have no tickets, no crossing, never driven in Europe before, and no-one to go with.

What i do have in plenty of spare time.....

It's never too late

Finding camping might involve some effort searching the forums or ebay or ticket agencies but if you just want to drive down, park up and sleep in the car then no pre-planning is needed.

Driving to Le Mans is easy enough now there is motorway all the way.

Its not too late but you will have to be quite flexible about travel arrangements. Best place to start is the swap/sale/want thread to see what crossings people are looking to sell or if you lucky you may still get one direct from one of the ferry companies direct. It may be that you go out with one company and back on another. Camping tickets can be done on the same thread or ebay. Admission tickets can be bought on the gate when you get down there. It is possible, we did it a few years back when we decided to go on the Wednesday before the race!

return 5.00pm on monday 15th face value only wanted £40 + £10 transfer.

Nah, too early mate...

You've gotta love (or depise) all the sadsters on this forum getting all excited months in advance; some "I've booked all my thousands of different tickets already" threads appeared here at Xmas, but that's just to satisfy their own OCD surely.

Personally, I'll be making a decision on when to go over the next week or so and then booking a cheap ferry direct (there's plenty out there), driving down there on the week of the race and seeing what camping tickets they've got when we get there (if I don't find sumfink bargainitious on the 'bay ending a couple of days before departure).

My advice would be to just go whenever you want and, most importantly, enjoy the racing.

Don't be put off by the paranoid posters on here...

I've picked up tickets from another PHer in Luton train station a few days before Le Mans in 2005. I literally hopped off the train, exchanged the cash and got back on within a minute! It's definitely possible

Never too late if you are flexible.

Many of us with OCD book well in advance, but then we're the ones who have pitches on the best sites for face value, £30 ferry tickets, groups of people and go every year.
