Hi All,

Well we've been here before but this time there's a small difference...

Under full load the car has been suffering a pause of about 1/2 second in power (none at all). This usually happened at about 6,000 rpm. It's not a nice thing to happen whilst overtaking! But then again it does make sure that you make sure there's enough of a gap.

Anyway out for a blast today and the cuts are becoming more frequent as the car heats through. I was arriving back at my start point when the car decided to lose power on anything more than a small throttle increase (i.e. if I accelerated slowly it was fine - hard it cut power).

Any thoughts?

This I know probably doesn't sound right, but I had a similar problem on my 2.5 a couple of weeks back. I found the little fuse carrier behind the driver under the rear clam had been getting a bit nasty over time and the yellow fuse for the fuel pump wasn't fitting properly any more. Hard acceleration was making the fuse make and break occassionally so the engine would literally die for 1/2 second. Lets hope you've got the same problem coz it doesn't get much cheaper to put right.

I had excact same symptoms, its the fuel pipe collapsing or kinked which in turn starves the fuel pump and the result is a big bill if not sorted asap !

Hopefully it's just the fuse as said above but i went through months of this and then a £1200 bill to figure out it was the fuel pump itself which worked fine most of the time but occasionally died.

i've had exactly the same thing on my 2.5 i had the fuel pump mod done when it was last in for other work and hasn't done it since. they did replace some other pipes and things when they were in there(didn't ask what).

my gto was suffering the same. i tryied loads of things but it didnt make a difference. i noticed when the car was fresh out the garage it was fine but if i left it parked up for 30 mins then took it for a spin. it would get worst. i changed the plugs, leads and coil pack. i thought it had solved the problem but it didnt. in the end i put i temp probe into the fuel tank and the fuel temp was getting over 45 degrees(in the tank). from heat soak. so by the time it had gone through the hoses and into the rail on the engine i think the temps were getting far to extreme. my noble didnt have any vents cut into the bodywork to let heat rise naturally out of the engine bay so i fitted some myself and now the problem has finally gone away.

I've just had my crank sensor replaced for a similar thing at 3-4000 rpm.

Similar symptoms here... mine were due to corroded ECU connector. Quick clean sorted it out... after a week of fault finding...
