Audi A6 Air conditioning fault
Discussion
My air con has started to play up, I get hot air from the side dash vents and the rear center concole vent and cool air, not cold from the center dash vents. I have had the system re-gassed which has made some difference, but after about 10 minutes it revers back to its old problem. Has anyone has this problem before, it could be a problem with the cabin sensor or the aircon board but would like to be able to diagnose the problem before shelling out £££'s for Audi. OK have tested a litle more. I can ajuest the heating, i.e turn the heat up and the automatic function responds adjusting the air flow accordingly. This morning he A/C worked for about 15 minutes, then went back to hot from the drivers side vent and rear centre console vent and the windscreen vents, all others cool, where as in the intial 15 minutes it was all cold.

Which model A6?
Mine is the latest shape one and does it. There is a sensor in the engine bay at the bulkhead apparently that needs replacing.
It can be cleaned too, but not sure if this works long term, I'm going to give this a try first as the part is £180

I should have said, the model is A6 2.4 petrol, new shape on a '54 plate. I have had it fixed. The problem was on of the sensor motors that control the hot and cold air mix. Audi verified it as already being the subject of a Technical Product Information notice. The part in question is 4F2959617B, which is a factory only part, although I did get a quote from an Audi specialist for a genuine part, £169+vat for the part. Now comes the worring bit. Audi originally quoted me £109 for the diagnostic hour plus £330 to fix he problem £439. Having said that I would get an independant quote before making a desission they dropped to a total of £416, THEN I said I'd have to think about it, called back later and said that if they could do it for a total of £350 including the vat for the diagnostic and parts and labour I'd be happy for them to proceed. Quick as a flash it was agreed, completed next day and has, fingers crossed, been cured.
