Any good web sites for part time work???
Discussion
Ok i'll try and quickly explain my situation. I've been at my current place of employment fro 16 years now, 12 months ago we were all put on a 4 day week (like a lot of people) which i just cut back on expenses and i got by, now for the last 3 months this has been reduced to 2.5 day week, now this has put me deep in the brown stuff, i've got more going out then what i've got coming in to the tune of about 500 quid a month.
Now i realise drastic action is needed and fast because i dont want to end up losing my home.
Basically i need a job that is part time or flexible just to keep me afloat but so far bugger all has come up (unless you count delivering Thomson Local's which earnt me the princly sum of 70 quid)
I've looked at a full time position but what i do (Purchasing) in my industry (Electronics) is like peeing against the wind to be honest and it doesn't help because i've bugger all qualifications, everything has been self taught.
Been thinking of delivery sort of jobs, anything really, nothing is beneath me i just could do with earning 100-150 quid a week to keep the wolves at bay.
Any suggestions? i'm all ears.
Sorry for the long winded post.
Thanks in advance chaps

There's a new government-sponsored "Slivers of Time" initiative which might suit you. Individuals who are available for non-FT work join a network and advertise their availability for work, and also search for employers advertising the same thing.
Not sure how much it's taken off yet, but can't hurt to take a look at www.sliversoftime.com. Also contact the big temp agencies like Reed and others.
There is work around, but employers are terrified of creating permanent jobs at the moment - good luck.

...or looking at your profile, perhaps change tack slightly and target local SMEs to offer them cheap consultancy help & advice v-a-v their materials costs.
Might strike a chord in these difficult times and make a difference for companies who can't afford a permanent purchasing professional?

Via email, then by phone, I'd suggest (make sure you do your momework first and get the name of the relevant person - I lose count of the number of people who phone or email without any prep at all - they all get the same treatment).
Also contact local Chamber of Commerce, local business groups etc - will help re contacts & getting face-to-face with people. They are bound to have a web site and email circulars, as well as contact lists of members.
