thinking of adding a bit of bass to the car, wondered if anyone has any experience of these compact amp/sub packages?

you wouldn't be able to get that under the seat fella, there is no space (I looked at one a while back)

I just fitted one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fusion-AT-1100-Sub-Bass-Box-...
The main reason being that the power and remote wire are all on 1 quick release clip so its a 10 sec job to whip it out, and fits well in the boot

Pole - I have something similar - it will actually fit behind the rear seat back (watch where you stick the screws tho!) so an ideal stealth install. Haven't quite figured out how to get the seat back out yet though lol!

I know there's space to get it in from pulling the helmet holder out unfortunately there's a chasis tube that won't let you slide it in from there.

They provide more than adequate bottom end to fill the gap - I'm very happy for not a lot of outlay. At the end of the day the cerb cabin is so small you don't need much to get uncomfortable sound levels wink

Or you could put it on the shelf in the boot behind the control boxes without losing boot space smile

Behind the seat back is fiberglass. The only access to that well is through the helmet holder.

When i had subs they were in the boot. Worked perfectly.

In mine the helmet holder has been removed, and a 10"sub in a neat install has been placed between the two rear seats. Looks(and sounds) the nuts and is so well installed that people continuously ask if it was a factory option! cool

I have the pioneer 150W self powered sub sat in the helmet hole and mostly hidden. I had to trim the bottom of the helmet hole but you'd hardly know it was there. Just adds a good bit of base fill without being chavvy.

Surely the seat back must come out - I mean, how do they trim it?

smash, what unit do you have in your cerb then?
i know alpine, pioneer and boss do the 'under the seat' sub/amp packages.
i am aware that the unit wont actually fit under my seat, but am happy to place it on the floor behind the rear seat.

The seat back is glued? to a fiberglass mould. The rear of the car is one big seat mould.

Can't remember the make of it to be honest - it was a cheapy from a local auto factor (Boschmann? something like that). I have an Alpine one in my classic mini and that is a fantastic little piece of kit.

Bummer about the rear seats!

the back seats do come off in sections if you have the early cerbra style seats. I dont know about the tuscan style rears but i presume they are the same.

when i took mine out, i had to pull the seat centres out (mine were perforated leather) it was velcro'd in but very strong, then there are 3 screws holding the upper back rest to the chasis, undo these. remove the helmet holder and locate the bolts that hold the parcel shelf down(4 of them 10mm irrc), undo these and just lift the shelf slightly(dont bother undoing the seat belt bolts etc, there will be 2x10mm bolts on the back of the seat behind the head rest but under the shelf. undo these and the hole the top section will lift off.

I have removed my 2 seat backs to clean them and clean up the wiring to the rear, you wouldnt beleive the amount of dust, dirt, mould and tree leaves that are behind there. when the sections for pass and driver side rear seat are removed the access to the alarm modules, wires and hedlining around rear screen is great. As I have the area exsposed I think I may put a small sub there.

Mine is the Pioneer TS-WX11A
http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/25/130/201/TS...

It doesn't fit under the seats, nor will it fit past the roll bar ? behind the rear seats, so I trimmed a square section out of the bottom of the helmet holder and it sits in there. Not huge amounts of base but it makes a real difference,

They've a new one - the WX77A, that looking interesting for behind the seats. 200W and just 8cm high!

Hum - looks a bit big in a scooby

Excellent - in that case I'm relocating it in there - cheers for that! biggrin

Looks like a purchase is in order then, interesting to know that it could fit behind the rear seat.
A job for the weekend.
