what is it with those footnotes on forum posts?
Discussion
is it just a way of boasting? usually it's longer than the post itself and you spend more time trawling through forums to find what you want to read about

I've rarely seen any footnotes. sam, cock: massive, car: 335d mapped, home: swimming pool in the playboy mansion, TV: 200", PC: 120gb ram, 10THz processor, 100Tb hard disk, 50Gb graphics, stereo: 4 million watt, billion disk multi changer, net worth: 1 miwyun dowa

Not that that means I don't actually know how to insert them, or how to fill them with vacuous drivel that will Shirley pee off some poster, somewhere on the forum

I presume the OP is talking about some of the crap on other fori, it makes the threads about 5 times longer than the content!

If you live in a swimingpool, aren't your fingers and toes always wrinkly? I guess the permanant stiffy would pull out the creases a bit.

it seems quite prevalent on computer forums quoting the spec of every aspect of their PC
this sort of thing
the guy (carbon) posts a 3 line reply and takes up 3 times as much room as he needs to!

Ahh, I see, yes, some forums have pictures, ditties, mottoes, jokes, adverts etc, in the signature. Which is okay if you post once, but it gets pretty bloody tedious when the same guy posts about twenty times on one thread!it seems quite prevalent on computer forums quoting the spec of every aspect of their PC

It is a bit stupid. Someone said that PH's format was good because you couldn't put signatures.

There's really no need for it - the S2000 site has a cunning feature whereby your signature is posted the first time you post in a thread, but never again thereafter. Nice little compromise. Still get a load of rubbish in them though

The Nikonians forum (American) had a fair share of religious footnotes.
EG: 'The D300 has a CMOS sensor and as such is better able to handle low light then its predecessors'. 'The Lord is my shepherd and leadeth me into temptation, able was I 'ere I saw Elba hey nonny no with a raffia newel post'
