Changed my front discs today as I thought they were very badly warped.... Removed the drivers side disc and it looked like this!!!!!!

How scary is that?! lucky I got them changed, anyone seen damage like that before?

eek

The only time I've seen that was on a manky old Sierra where the vanes had almost corroded through (and the disc did eventually collapse. Good job you spotted it in time, could have been very nasty.

^^^ Ive seen it on an S series (so sierra based brakes as Green has seen too) and the two halfs of the disc had completely separated. scary indeed!

I think if i had driven for much longer they would have come apart, shocking that they should do that, from the side there wasn't much wear on them! I've replaced them with some solid (rather than bell and disc) discs with cooling holes

The non-bell TVR Tuscan S discs arent well thought of. They can crack.

Well these haven't been that great for cracking either, I'll keep an eye on them though

I have seen the halfs separate on a XR4x4 Sierra, but the vibration just before it happened was so horrific only insane people would have not changed them. Unfortunately my dad was pretty good at not being sane.

Judging by the rust on them I'd say they were pretty old. How long should a disc last? They've probably been like that for a while, I agree it's scarey though.

Cant see the flat faces, are they drilled disks? I know people seem to have this kind of corrosion problem mostly with the drilled variety.
