Hi

Well decided today to sort out the intermittent rev counter.
Now I have alredy changed the big fuse and the alternator so I was reliable informed that it was the engine crank sensor which was causing the problem, buy being covered in muck etc.

Removed that and yes it was covered in iron filing and lots of other muck, cleaned it off, and refitted it!

Rev counter still the same!

Any ideas?

hwen mine became intermittent it was the rev counter itself - fitted a new one and it worked perfectly

At least you've eliminated that then Andy. What's wrong with mine might be different to what's wrong with yours then. Fluttering about today again and stayed dead for a couple of minutes too.

Hi Colin

Had the car out today when the rev-counter stopped I tapped it and it started working again. Every time it stopped I tapped it and it worked, so its a fault with the rev-counter or the fixings at the back of it!

I haven't had my Cerb for a few years now but when my rev counter started playing up I sent it off to Caigauge (Green Gauges) to have it refurbished. It came back in perfect condition and worked great after that.

Have to try that then Andy. Speed8(Andys) suggestion could be useful then.

Also (it's all coming back to me) I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it but have you changed your big fuse recently as a fluttering rev counter used to be a classic sign that the fuse was on it's way out if I remember right.
