Elise Instruments overheating

I have a S1 Elise. When the suns shines on the instrument binnacle the instruments freeze and all the warning lights come on. After half an hour in the shade all is back to normal. So the trip recorder stops which is annoying for tulip navigation etc., you don't know your revs or speed or temp. The other day a mate was driving it on a track day and I told him to drive by ear. He drove by the rev limiter!

Anybody know the answer to this?
