I'm doing a 1/4 mile sprint soon (single runners against the clock, not racing in pairs) Which start gear is best. 1st or 2nd, my Ute has 3.9 diff, manual, standard engine plus stock clutch? thanks Ferb

Crestaracing is probably the best for this one as his 0-60 times are brilliant. But I'd say probably first as you have the early M6. With my A4 I handbrake and footbrake it to about 3.500-4000 and let it go on the green.

Come over and have some practice with us?

I'd love too, but the cost of coming over to the UK plus digs and to be honest I do prefer tracks with corners. But saying that I will join you guys and girl one day.

I tried a practice start the other day, private road of corse dumped clutch at 3250rpm but it just tramped like mad. Rear bushes are fitted plus Harrop diff cover.
What sort of start times where you lot getting before it rained?

I practised the other day the same way. Try 2500rpm/ maybe 3000rpm. It makes all the difference. There's a fine line. Just practise that and gear changes and you'll be good

Think it depends on the car. NA seem to like loads of power (3-4kRPM) while my one and only run at Shakey's with 1.5 (SC) gave much better results. Probably I would creep upto 2 -2.5k max.

Ill go with that! Stock NA you can be a bit more agressive, but with any decent amount of power traction wont exist. So keep torque output down to tractionable levels.
