Door mirrors and door handles

Does anyone know if the outer skin of the door mirrors pops off? The reason im asking is that mine are heavily stone chipped and i wanted to get them resprayed but didnt want to be without the car.
The other question is that i believe that the door handles on monaros are the same as vauxhall omegas, can someone please confirm this, and if this is the case what year omega?

I feel sure that they are the same as the Omega I had which was a 99/V one. Pre-face lift.

Still check with others though before you buy an Omega to break .

I have a facelift Omega (2000 MY) and the door handles certainly look identical from the outside, but I wouldn't swear they are the same without checking further. I can get the Vauxhall part number if anyone can provide the Monaro one to compare (it may even be stamped on the back).

Hi mate dont know if ur interested but i have a drivers side mirror unit in primmer waitting to be painted, was gonna put it on ebay as all i need is the glass and the motor so make me an offer if ur interested?

the mirror shells are removable, just be gentle with a thin flat blade between the frame and shell join. as for the door handles, they are the same part.

Will you be zapped for driving without a wing mirror?
Just unbolt it and give it too a panelbeater to paint and then go back later and collect it?
Ah ok just seen it is both.
To remove a wing mirror.
Remove the sail plane plastic piece behind the wing mirror inside the cabin. Grab it by the front corner nearest the windscreen and then pull towards the centre of the car. It has a plastic expanding clip? that pops out behind the middle of the sailplane. Do not pull too hard as it has a plastic groove that clips onto the door frame on door window end. Once that is removed, undo the 3 phillips head screws and unclip the wiring harness and one remvoed wing mirror.
