Hi guys

I have recently bought a 330 Sport coupe (e46) and notice that the frontend/steering feels loose.

For example when going over speed bumps it sort of clonks and it feels like there is a little play in the steering wheel. When I brake it also "snatches" the steering wheel straight.

Is this common or does it sound like bushes or a suspension issue?

The car is an auto and has the mtech suspension.

Thanks

Glen

Hi Glen

What's the mileage on the car? Could be the wishbone bushes (common wear area on the E46).

Hi bud.

Its got 76k on it and its an automatic.

Its hard to describe but the front feels loose, with a sort of play in it. It is more noticeable at speed or when the suspension is having to work.....

As you can tell I am not that great with the spanners...

Yeah definitely sounds like wishbone bushes. Do a search on here for replacement instructions. DIY job if you are such minded.

It's odd as it seems to rattle and go wobbly randomly.

Brilliant thank you.

I was getting concerned it was something more sinister but thanks to piston heads well of knowledge I am pretty sure its as you have all said.

Now its just a matter of getting the "balls" to try and do it myself.....
