Exhausts for 360 spider
Discussion
Ok, so now I have purchased my 360 Spider I now have the job of making it as LOUD as possible.
I know of 3 makes capristo, larini and obviously Tubi are there any others?
A few questions...
1) Which is the loudest! I understand that they do the exhausts in stages 1,2 and 3. This is a weekend/summers day car so require it to be as loud as possible boomy poppy howly everything!.
2) Visuals - are there any differences visually, (I do like the tubi inside where they have 360 spider on the main back box). are there any differences to the pipes?
3) Running / heat problems - when changing the exhausts are there any problems with heat or running of the car that I should know about? I have got the challenge grill so breathing from the rear should be ok!.
4) Warranty - I have heard that changing the exhausts invalidates the warranty, now I havn't got a warranty but would like to take the car back to Greypaul for servicing etc will they carry this out if I change my exhaust?
5) Location/Price - Where can I look at buying these ( I know of scudeira systems) but are there any others and how much am I looking at fitted?
Also pics of pipes / back box's would be greatful, vids with noise also welcome!
All comments appreciated
Cheers

1) In a 360 spider you don’t want the loudest. Trust me, I love noise. I have a Level 2 Capristo on mine, and I really would not want any more than this. After a couple hundred miles your ears are ringing with the roof down. You would need ear plugs if you went for the level 3 or 2 stage Capristo options. Wives / girlfriends also want to speak to you occasionally, and this is possible with the Level 2 but you do need to lean over and get shouted into your ear if you are nipping on. I love the howl of the Capristo, but each to their own.
2) Again down to choice, I like the look of the Capristo, but this is a sound / howl decision. (and price)
3) With a challenge grill you should be fine. Just check that the heat shielding ( basically fancy stick on foil) has not been removed from plastics around the silencer.
4) Yes they will service your car. Some drivers report fault lights coming up when they change echausts, I have had no problems. I think changing the cats for by-pass pipes seem to cause the most problems.
5) I got mine from Karl at Verdi. He will price supply or supply / fit. Think he does Tubi and others too. There are plenty other suppliers. Aftermarkets always go for mental money on ebay so new is not a bad option. If you have a bit of time and knowledge, its not a bad job to fit yourself. The back bumper needs to come off (and hence so do the rear wheels etc). The Capristo is a tight fit to get in there but a couple of curses does it.

I got my 360 Spider a couple of weeks ago. The standard 360 exhaust is fairly tame so I had a new Capristo level 2 exhaust fitted prior to collection. I know of 3 makes capristo, larini and obviously Tubi are there any others?

Like yourself, I wanted LOUD LOUD LOUD. All my other cars have super loud exhausts ranging from a Stage 2 Lotus Sport on the elise to a full bore decat Blitz Spec R on the Evo. I got the 360 Spider to replace an F355 Berlinetta which had a full tubi and decat system which roared and spat flames, so I can see where you are coming from in the "I want noise" department.
In terms of Capristo / Tubi / Others .. they will all be much much louder than standard and in many ways its the type of loudness which differentiates them from each other. The Capristo is specifically a high pitched F1 type scream at high revs and thats what I wanted.
My instinct (probably as a bit of a boy racer) was to go for the Capristo Level 3 but after speaking to other owners and also Karl Verdi, who said I would be daft to have a L3 with the Spider, I settled for Level 2.
So, after 600 roof-down miles in 2 weeks was it a good decision? Yes, definately. If I had a 360 Modena then I would have gone for the L3, but in the Spider the L2 is just on the edge of making you feel glad to get out of the car after a decent drive. Fantastic noise but a bit wearing after a while. I presume a Level 3 would be as fantastic but more wearing. Mrs R and myself went for a cross country blast yesterday and I think she was quiet the whole time althoughI could see her lips moving occasionally.
Hi 900 / Renmure,
Thank you for your commemts..
So I gues by looking at your replies the stage 2 capristo sounds the one, what is the difference between a stage 2 tubi and a stage 2 capristo is it types of sound?
I really love the boom of the low revs and the high howling pitch at high revs do you get this then with the stage 2 Capristo.
Can I be so rude as to ask how much you both paid for your stage 2's?
Thank you for your commemts..

i've only got a coupe with a stage 2 tubi but thats exactly how i would have described it, slightly boomy lower down (can be a good or a bad thing but def turns heads!) but then makes a very nice howl as revs increase Thank you for your commemts..

The difference between the sounds of tubi/capristo/others really comes down to individual choice and it is only really hearing them that answers the "whats the difference" question. I loved the deep growl of my tubi on the 355 which built up to a full-on roar as you accelerated. I heard a capristo on a 355 and also thought it sounded fab but it was a different, higher pitched sound. I think it is the same for the 360. Don't think you can make a wrong choice really. The burbling and popping on overrun is exagerated if you go decat but it's a bit of a hassle.
Thing you have to bear in mind is that from the drivers seat you get the least-good seat in the house for hearing the exhaust. It's all the folk on the pavement or in the other cars with their windows wound down who get the most benefit from your £2200 + vat .. until you find a tunnel in which case you will grin like the Cheshire Cat who has just been made Professor of Cream at Oxfrord University
Check the difference in silencer size between standard and my Capristo
