I am intending to take my floor tray off soon, going to replace the pipes etc. Has anyone ever used a TEK screw to put the undertray back on.
We use mountains of them at work and I reckon they would be a good solution

I can see no reason why a Tek screw wouldnt work, do they come in stainless? We also use them ( for ductwork)

What thickness is the chassis tube? (never had mine off YET) and would be willing to try on some offcuts @ work.

I don't know but it's a pig to put a self tapper in, you end up with a compromise between a loose fit and snapping the screw.

I have put them in some pretty thick steel and they worked. Job for tomorrow....drill holes in nob

Sounds painfull. if i get the chance i will try some also. 4/5mm plate should be good enough to try on.

There's loads of different types of TEK screw dependant on the thickness of the material to be fixed, thickness/type of material being fitted to, material, head style etc etc. They're all just glorified self-tappers really.

Although it's a much more labour intensive job, I prefer rivnuts and machine screws. Its a much more robust long term solution.
