FWIW I don't believe the GT-R launch was ever going to be earlier than 2007. And it was always going to have 400+ hp.

Hm, well I suppose someone may have mentioned that date at some time.

Well the gentlemens' agreement is done, history, finished, kaput

If you look at what's all going in to the new GT-R it's understandable why it's taking so long - dry sump oiling, antilag turbo system (I've heard electric assisted turbos at one point, don't know if that's current), and plenty of other goodies that should help it make the 911 Turbo quake in its boots not to mention Cosworth is helping with engine development!

TBH I don't think Nissan have ever really cared about the GT-R in the US. Its almost like they do it out of love for their fellow Japanese street racers

I think the RB26 was actually canned because it was unlikely to meet future Japanese emission laws, I was led to believe the decision had little or nothing to do with the US.
