The re-education of BMW drivers.
Discussion
Has anyone else experienced this? There is a particuarly short bloke who lives near me and drives a BMW 850 (chest wig and medallion look). He has this annoying habit of tail gateing me and revving up at the lights. Obviously, I have taken the mature approach for weeks and ignored him. However, things came to a head recently when I could take this fools posing no longer. I gave him a swift re-education in physics i.e. 320BHP pushing a beautiful light machine is much faster than 320BHP pushing a 2 tonne dump truck! I believe he still has pieces of SO2 rubber stuck to his windscreen!!!
I experience it all the time with nova boys...I can't understand why these as***les always try to impress with there crap mobiles...
Still better to ignore them
About BMW drivers, I'm impressed they're so stupid in GB, according to what I read here; down here they're not worse than anybody else.
In Germany IMO they're OK: last month I had a 'race' with a new 323i on the Autobahn a sunday morning, averaging 140mph for ten minutes...the guy gave me thumbs up quite sympathetically when our roads parted. Maybe he was a one-off

Thom,
BMW is quite a phenomenon here. You'd have to see it to believe it. This is probably the most popular badge for the masses. As a matter of fact they are absolutely everywhere and the second hand market is just madness.
140 mph on the Autobahn, I see the 944 is flying . My Chimeara feels a bit light at the front at those speeds..

I dont think it is possible to educate them at all. The majority of them seem to think they have an exclusive car, that no other car could possibly be faster than or handle better etc. Every day on my 30 minute motorway I see loads. And hardly ever a TVR, lotus or porsche even, thats more exclusive isnt it.
On another point why is it that they nearly all of them need to wizz past in the outside lane. Something to prove have you?

I had my Chimaera up at 140 at Bruntingthorpe. It felt like I was close to taking off! At those speeds they could really do with some down force but can you imagine what it would look like with a cossie rear wing stuck on the back!!!!!

I drive a company car BMW during the week, very sensibly as you would expect. However I have to 'wizz' past in the outside lane to get home as soon as possible and drive my Chim as soon as possible. Much more fun and puts a grin on my face that the BMW never will (wouldn't want to put 45,000 miles a year on the TVR though).

couldn't the fornt suspension be hardened?
Not much point really because the car is so loud at that speed that I very rarely exceeds 130
Also a harder suspension does nothing for aerodynamics which is what causes the car to go light at speed.
The solution is playing with the aerodynamics which is why I have spent so much time and effort developing front spoilers for the 520 and playing with rake angles to stop it going light at speed!

There's a blue French-owned Griff with little front corner spoilers - quite nice I thought. I noticed the front of my 500 get light at 130 but did get an indicated 144 at Bentwaters before chickening out. Even Griffs don't accelerate much at that speed and the runway goes awful fast! The little black spoiler underneath - the one I knocked off on a verge - is that to aid downforce or channel more air into the radiator?

I must admit the front end does become light at high speed, the book figure for the 4.0HC is 150 something but a couple of weeks ago I got upto 165 before coming rather scared at the attempt to take off thus making me slow down a little!!!!!!!
I still think that there was a little left in it mind you!! Watch this space!!!!
