Look at the cross section of a racing engine plenum and where the throttle runners enter there seems to be a raised bellmouth. What are they for, how do they work. My plenum does not seem to have them but the ACT short induction kit does seem to have them.

They improve the airs entry into the runner.

Without them the effective cross sectional area of the pipe is reduced due to the airflow around the entrance.

Fitting the bellmouths, or aleast putting some lead-in into the runner improves the flow.

Anyone know what the diameter of the large end of the intake runner is on a 4.5?
