Recommend me a good restaurant on the Souhtbank
Discussion
And no, I don't mean THAT one....
I've got a date in 2 weeks time, and we're going to the Udderbelly at the Southbank.
Can anyone recommend me a nice, posh restaurant in the area. If it was by the Thames and had al fresco dining (weather permitting) so much the better. No particular preference on cuisine.

How much of a walk do you want after seeing your show? And how posh do you want?
THAT one is a decent enough choice with nice views and OK food IMO. Assuming I know which you mean
You could head down to Shad Thames. Bit of a trek, but you then have Pont de la Tour (over rated IMO, but OK), Chop House (I like it, others don't) or the Blue Print Cafe in the design museum (different, and some nice food). Bear in mind it's a while since I was down there regularly though. The views will still be the same though
For somewhere more relaxed, and not exactly posh, try Gabriels Wharf. Had some good meals there. Riviera's probably the most "posh", but not in Oxo/Pont territory.

Well lets face it, nothing beats a trip theresorry

Skylon is very good, with a river view. Also Canteen if you like pies (no river view though). Also around there is Ping Pong (Dim Sum), Chez Gerrard, and a couple of other chain restaurants.
As you wander East, Riviera was good in the past but we had a very 'off' meal there recently, no idea what has changed. There is also a pizzeria and a creperie in Gabriels Wharf, IIRC.
Wander on and there is a decent Greek (and a Pizza Express).
At Borough Market there is Roast (very good, but not on the river).
And if you go on to Shad Thames you have four Conran restaurants, an Ask, a Zizzi, and yet another Pizza Express.
Having typed all that, I'd just book Skylon, myself.
