What a fking waste of time.

I've recently had my eyes opened to skinned & boned Chicken thighs.

What a revelation.

Unlike breast, they actually retain moisture once cooked and have some degree of actual flavour.

AND. AND. They're not expensive either.

Last night I couldn't be arsed doing any proper cooking so I bought 6 and threw some nandos piri piri marinade at them for an hour or so. Whacked them under the grill for 20 mins or so and they were delightful served in toasted pittas with a spicy rocket (olive oil, salt, pepper, tabasco) salad.

I will never again purchase Breast. I'm a thigh man now.

You are so right - thighs are so much more juicy, tender and flavoursome that breast meat. And a hell of a lot cheaper to boot.

Breast is ok if you 'Kiev' it, but that is a fair bit of work.

Thighs are better, and cheaper. Just throw two or three per person in a baking pan with an unholy amount of garlic, some oil, and the juice of a lemon or two (and the segments). 25 minutes in the oven. yum

Another vote for thighs. More taste, juicier, just much better.

Is that the latest 'in thing' where you stuff it with a cheese & wrap it in ham/bacon/proscuitto or whatever?

If so, you could do that with boned thighs and at least you'd actually taste the chicken.

Nah, that's pretty easy to do, and I'm not really a fan.

'Kiev' is:
mix butter with (lots of) garlic, roll in cling film, flatten, and freeze
slit the breast, insert some frozen garlic butter
flour, egg, and breadcrumb, egg, and breadcrumb
bake (about 20 mins)

Well worth doing, but it is a bit more effort.

Aye. I just wondered whether by 'kiev' you were describing the process of stuffing a chicken breast with stuff.

You could Kiev thighs too.

I agree. Chicken breasts are a waste of time unless you're making Kievs. Thighs are also the chicken meat to use in curry.

Do that, wrap in clingfilm and poach it. Nice and moist.

Oh ye of little faith, it's all down to the cooking methods. If you get good quality breast *snigger*, not the tripe from the local supermarket, and make sure you boil it very quickly beforehand and then wrap it in foil and stick into a hot oven. Hey presto!

However, your suggestion above will have to be tried...

TBF, don't get me wrong, I've always enjoyed a plump, corn fed, free range breast but even they have nothing on the thigh. Seriously.

I might just give them a go tonight, seeing as the normal answer when I ask SWMBO what she wants for dinner is "I don't mind" I need some quick and easy ideas.

Might try smoking some on the BBQ this weekend, I've got some Jack Daniels smoking wood that needs using smile

Ah but in things like Fajitas and light curries a thigh has so much more flavour. I love 'em

I can honestly say I've never been offered that choice in a curry house.

Whilst you are correct in every respect rememebr that the girls tend to baulk at anything that contains fat. Hence dry chicken breast can usually be fobbed off on the wimmin whilst the chaps chow down on wings, thighs and drumsticks...
