Morning All,

My 97 ST24 has 120k on the clock and all things considered is doing well.... Except.....
Drive at high ish speed, say 70-80 (along motorway obviously!)... come to brake for junction/roundabout... severe judder thro steering and brake peddle, but mostly steering and thro your seat. All other times its fine. If I slow without braking to say50, then brake, no judder. its that bad that it makes you want to not brake.

Any ideas?? This has been going on for a couple of months now.... poss getting slightly worse.

front tires 3 months old, rears totally fine, all balanced last week and brakes checked on rolling road by kwik fit, with no problems. Front discs/pads replaced by me 18months ago.

Cheers
Cjg

My dad has just had this on his V6 Ghia X, or the same symptoms at least. Braking at 30/40 is fine, but try to brake above 50 and it feels like a Spitfire attempting to break the sound barrier, with the whole car shaking and juddering. It turned out to be warped front brake discs. They _looked_ fine, but measuring them they were way out.

Sounds like the disks are warped (usually happens when the breaks are hot and people sit on the brakes instead of using the hand brake)

Get the disks changed and it'll be fine

Thanks all..... ordered new discs and pads yesterday.
Driving home from work, came to the conclusion it must be the discs..... very slight squeel on light braking that oscilates with (at low speed) slight peddle judder.

Lets hope it fixes it... rest of car (for its age) is great... handles well and pulls like a train. Had the dreaded "ticking" noise in the past... was the head gaskets... got it fixed at a really good price, what a great engine it is now! Helped of course by a proper induction kit and exhaust.

Cheers
