Engine swaps/transplants
Discussion
I know this isn't a Honda specific forum but here goes...
Looking at buying a 99 Honda civic 3 door hatch and putting a b18c Integra type r engine in it.
Just considering the engine conversion and excluding upgrades to the suspension and brakes for the moment.
I don't really have any previous mechanical experience(I can get help) but see this as a good learning project.
I need
Engine
Gearbox
oil pump
Loom
Ecu
Drive shafts??
Engine mounts
Is there anything I'm missing? And since there is no modification to the chassis required is it quite a simple task? Once the engine gearbox is in correctly the hardest part would be connecting all the ancillaries, loom and ecu(getting the thing running)?
Bit of a noob/utterly clueless thread here but I would like some advice from anyone who has undertaken similar engine swaps before..
cheers

Cooling system - pipes, radiator etc.
Fuel system - pump, pipes may be different.
Will Integra driveshafts fit your uprights?
Induction system
Gear linkages
Exhaust
and probably many more; you always find dozens of minor (and not so minor) issues when you do engine swaps.
If you started with a VTi things would be a lot simpler, but even so this isn't exactly an ideal starter project if you have zero experience. You also end up with a very modified car that insurers won't like, and will be difficult to sell.
