The ecu along with loads of other electics is situated under a flap in the top of the passanger footwell. I can't believe that this is the right place for it as it is just 'bungled in'
Any suggestions even polite ones would be welcome.
Thanks Rob

I like the description 'bungled in'! This the TVR wiring in my wedge. The ECU is tucked around the back of the carpet on the left. It makes you wonder how these cars actually manage to work!!

Thanks for that gents. I did not believe it true, but then we don't buy Wedges for practicality

I wondered why mine has a load of extra screws holding that panel in place

Guess I need a LONG screwdriver to keep out the way before releasing that lot

Mine was like that until I decided to tidy it and use a few straps to fix it upright , thats the relays/fuses , the ecu sits in the well of the box that unscrews and folds down .

The relay 'panel' is assembled from modular relay bases that slide together. Originally, the completed panel had four mounting legs that also slid into the grooves on the side of the bases. Unfortunately they were what might best be described as 'crap' and either snapped, pulled out of the slots or have been lost by ransacking auto-sparkies over the years. Even when they do survive, trying to actually get screws through them whilst holding the whole rat's nest up is an art form akin to knitting with sandworms.
This modular design, incidentally, is also the reason why so many cars have relay layouts that don't match the published diagrams - they either got assembled wrongly to start with or have been rearranged since.

The ECU is often secured to the inside of the flip-down panel so if it does drop, it can be a weighty experience for the passenger's shins!

I like the garden gate hinge that holds one end to the car.

Bought a luggage strap from where ever and it stays up with that. Strap colour matches the car........

Your lucky you have coloured wires, on the 280's all the wires were black,

Ah! Its an air vent. Wondered what the thing was in the flap. Good idea, have to see how that can be achieved.

Jeff - my SEAC has those .. it's attached to the Air Con.

The Air con has some vents and the heater external air has others..

Yep that's what mine looked like as well.

I bungeed the relay panel up to the top of the area beneath the dash, as it was always in the way when I was working on my MS conversion. The MS ecu is bolted to the fold down panel, along with assorted extra fuse panels etc. Still not pretty though, as I haven't mastered pretty.

I suppose it wasn't too bad when new, as the wiring was supple, but it's as hard as a hard thing now and thus it's difficult to manouver around.

Either way it looks and will probably work better than wafting around down there. I have to make sure mine is sticking out or I am afraid the ECU will get too hot. In the winter of course. Yes I do have a working heater wink
