clearly the new LS3 based ones at 27k are a snip but a garage I spoke to locally has a LS2 pre-reg version with delivery mileage which he has suggested they may do at an "outstanding" price. So what do folk on here reckon the going rate should be for the older model? How much better are the LS3 models in terms of value - 1k, 3k, 5k? Its in that unpainted finish - slow silver or something but as I'm looking at it as an everyday car thats maybe not a bad thing as it'll hide the dirt better.

Depends what an "outstanding" price is. In terms of engine the LS3 has some quite healthy (high flowing)heads (L98) which respond well to certain cam installs (If that's the way you want to go). Having said that, a pair of L98 heads and intake is only about £1500, so is an LS3 good value?

I think the real question is, how good is the warranty in the light of recent developments at GM. LS2 or LS3 ether ither I would want to know.

I was thinking about the new price on the LS3 but TBH, for £27K, I would probably get a new Camaro, if they're still available?

BTW I was down at the fishmongers today collecting some bits and had a good gleg at you motor. Love the tubbing and those back wheels with the new rubber! Mate, they look as though they should have been on these cars from day one.

Jez might have forgotten what car you are talking about Gareth, you might have to remind him with a more detailed description smile
Mine needs some more bloody warranty work. Im going to try Motorbodies in Luton this time as Picadors, while good, are too far way from me.

Oh and if you can get a good second hand vxr8 about £18k Id say that was good. New low mileage ones, Id me looking at maybe £23k or so.
Let us know how you get on smile

Richard, I can vouch for Kimpton Road branch of Motorbodies which is right next to the airport where I work. They also have a big showroom there. Never tried the other branch but I'm sure they are ok.

TBH the only thing that would put me off is the amount of warranty problems you hear about on VXR8's. If Archie Moss handle this warranty work it might be OK as they're close. I don't fancy having to go miles to get stuff fixed. I had enough with my R8 clubby in New Zealand. The utes been excellent though, even though it has been caned.

Aircond seems not to work, as in its not cold and on power on there is a thumping/clunking noise from the middle of the dash area, which could be the HVAC system flapping about the place. The thumping happens each power on event. About 6 or 7 knocks then it stops and all is well except for no aircond. Last time I checked it would be last summer, though I do run it now and again in winter to demist, but not at its cold setting.

Hopefully once thats done all will be well.. I have about 1 year left on warranty.
