A new one for me and I'm completely stumped.

I am sending my daughter off on a two day hike, I've got breakfast and an evening meal covered but what about lunches, my main considerations are that it doesn't squash, musn't go off in this hot weather and it isn't heavy, she's only a tiny little thing and the rucksack already looks bigger than her, without adding tins to it.

Already packing dried fruit and nuts for emergency rations.

They are not really stopping for lunch long enough to set up the stove.

Flapjacks. Having done a 62-mile walk on them, I now can't stand the sight or smell of them, however they did 'work'.

You don't need hot water...

Wine gums and fruit pastilles ime.

Helps munch the miles with 'who can not chew it for the longest' competitions.

Cashew nuts and mini cheddars should do the trick....but a £10 note in case she meets up with a cafe would probably be a nice idea too smile

Be surprised if 20p is the minimum! Was 40p last time I had to use one!

That's a good idea....they seem to have factored in the 'parents help' biggrin
There are picnic type tuna salad lunches available....but she's only going for a couple of days...tell her she's got to catch wild rabbits, and fish for her food.
Will make it far more exciting for her....and the other girls will likely have more than enough food for her to survive biggrin

flapjack, mint cake or cereal/ fruit bars all work well - easy to carry and will survive being squished and make sure they have lots of calories. Avoid bananas at all costs!!! Sesame snaps also good. Hope they have fun
