New 407

Peugeot bring a bit of panache to the rep sector

The new 407 has been unveiled and it's not bad looking at all. The new saloon will shortly be followed by an estate.

It's got the distinctive French look about it and will be on sale in the Spring of 2004 with the usual array of petrol and diesel engines ranging up to a 3 litre V6 with 211bhp.

One day, we are going to get to the stage where the headlights of a new French car extend all the way up the bonnet, up the A pillar, across the roof and down the boot.

What is it with this horrible stretched face look?

quite like this apart from the massive front overhang, at least it adds something different to the usual repmobile s**tboxes...

Yep, sure looks a bit different.
I like the front, but by the looks of it there's going to be a massive blind spot 3quarter rear view.
And that break is just plain Toyota / Merc (i.e. ugly).
A coupe would be interesting...

Not too bad on the whole. At least they're making an effort to provide something different from all the other Euroboxes. A damn sight better then many attempts in this sector of the market.

Well the front end starts of badly, it tails off a little in the middle and the less said about the end the better – but apart from that it's excellent.

no no no

Back of a hyaundi coupe, rear door from a 206, can't think where i have seen the front doors before, a-post to headlights is from a saab, headlights from peugeot 607, bumper from XKR and the estate is the megane with the ugly bit of the boot sawn off....

But fair play to them for not just building another bland rectangular box like the A4 or whatever

Is that rear C pillar not going to kill visiability though..?

The radiator grille is exactly like the new topend Ferrari that's spyshot in the mags at the moment.....at least Hyundai only copied the old model.

On second thoughts we are probably being a bit cruel here chaps. At least it isn't one of the desperate "I want to be a VW Passat" offerings like the Mundaneo, Vectra, Avensis, and, er, new Passat.

Read today it's all to do with the pedestrian safety regs coming out soon , soft bumpers and space above the engine for the bonnet to deform on contact with heads !!!
