Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone out there has a F430 and has replaced the already loud exhaust with a Tubi. There are two reasons I'm thinking of it. The sound of a tubi is a lot deeper and more say "throaty" and is constantly on, i.e. you don't need to get to 3000 revs before the exhaust opens.
Also the brackets and support for the existing exhaust are a bucket of rubbish and keep breaking. Apparently Tubi have addressed this issue and repaired it with much stronger fittings

Any thoughts pls?

Simon

Have you thought about a Capristo exhaust? Nicer sound and better made.

Thanks for that but I believe the Tubi exhaust is the only one which addresses the bracket problems. For instance my exhaust rattles a lot at the start becuase they have broken again, so I'm killing two birds with one stone

The Tubi, at least on a 360, is very drony and too bassy. The Capristo is more of an F1 inspired scream and far better built. I can't see that Capristo would make an exhaust with inferior mounting brackets. Why not send them an email to ask/confirm? www.capristo.de

Talk to James Pumo at Eurospares, he's da' man for either, 01787 477169.

I had the old model Tubi on our 430 Spider and it was great. I haven't heard the new one though and wouldn't entertain a capristo.

Were you discussing this topic with maranellos today by any chance?

I had the tubi on my old 430. tubi's new evo system is apparently a lot better (acoustically) and the one to go for.

They sure sound great on a 355 but wouldn't get on any other F. basically cap make the same pipe for all their Ferrari different cars - look at the muffler. It's not really thought-out IMO.
Tubi are virtually ferrari authorised.

I personally think that the sound of the exhaust valve opening is one of the best sounds the F430 makes. Especially round town, it echoes throughout the town and sounds great.

Thanks all. You make fair points which has confused me somewhat!!! I did have a DB9 and I had Aston open the valves permanently, so that could be a go...

Not sure why people want massive sound all the time. When you're having fun, the 430 produces an awesome sound. But the valve ensures a bit more peace for when you dont need it, such as so you dont annoy the cr@p out of all your neighbours when you're coming/going.

Just a thought but buy a valve controller from cargraphic for the standard valves that control them remotely.

Dont agree with any of that.
The 430 makes one of the cheapest nastiest sounds of a V8 Ferrari that I've ever heard. Just compare to a 355 or a Gallardo or even better the Maserati GT S. 430 is just nasty noise vs say high pitched howl on Lambo. Tried jamming valve and it sound like tractor.
Tubi made car no louder I remember but just much more "pleasant."

No don't have LP640. Utterly savage wonderful car which will waste a 430 in every respect except chuckability - but at ~£210k specced was too close to Carrera GT (= best car ever) a few years back and made no sense. Now the awesome Porsche has appreciated to level where it belongs (i.e in my dreams) oh well. LP640 great buy now and makes the 599 feel soo dull.

Must make more money. smile
