aftermarket pedals?
Discussion
Anyone replaced the factory pedals with something else? I'm not crazy about the floor mounted pedals, and I was wondering what options otere people may have already tried and liked?
Wilwood makes some nice pedals kits, but they don't seem to include the throttle pedal. I am wondering how difficult it would be to install top mounted pedals in the GTR.

Have you checked out the offerings from Tilton?

I'm not sure hanging pedals would work very well on the Ultima with the seating position. I have hanging pedals on my GT40 and I'm in the process of changing to floor mounted for the reason that the out stretched leg position is not conducive with operating hanging pedals.

I am going to put a Tilton Alloy floor mounted set in the GTR. Yes, they are exspensive, but Tilton's stuff is the best. The reason that I am doing this is intresting. I orginaly completed the LS1 with a 90 mm FAST intake and throttle body. It worked well but had a problem with low speeds. The throttle was to sudden amd it hunted a bit. Changed to the Kinsler I.R. set up and most of that went away. I then installed a progressive throttle control that Kinsler offers and the car will roll through a parking lot at just off idle without a bit of nonsense. The problem being that the factory lingage in combination with the longer throw on the Kinsler only allows 92% throttle opening. The Tilton pedal set up has the answer for the progressive and the longer throw in the pedals as dilevered. One cool idea that I saw on James Lawerence's Turbo Porsche powered GTR was that he has a removable plate below the pedal box he puts the car on a lift removes the plate and all of the pedals are accsesable from underneath. Lee,
I need to check this now on my Kinsler EFI set up. We were down on expected HP on the dyno recently and couldn't figure out why, I even contacted American Speed, they said it had to be the EFI and recommended I switch back to a carb! I put it down to the AS over stating of HP, but now you have me wondering.

Guys I agree that the set of alloy pedals shown above look great and visualy are an improvment over the factory pedals. Again I will state the obvious, if the factory went to that level on every piece in the car, the kit would be $100k instead of 50 and they would sell...... none. Back to the Tilton or other pedal set ups, The Tilton has a built in brake bais adjuster. I saw in the blog that such a device is not legal in England for road cars but here in California not a problem. The Tilton comes with progressive throttle opening and adjustable throw ratios. The first helps the bottom end tracability and the second will fix the limited throttle opening. Beyond that the Tilton set up is way cool looking. Joules I really don't want to get in a pissing match with American Speed but to say that the answer for a lack of power is to change from a Kinsler I.R.with EFI to a carb.......... YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. I guess they didn't share that advice with every F1, Indy car, LMP1 LMP2 (DO i NEED TO GO ON?) team in the world that are I beleive without exception running I.R. systems. I guess all those team didn't know any better. Lee
Those pedal units Tilton etc are very nice but to get them in properly, you need to cut the lower chassis box on the bulkhead, as you wont be able to get the cylinders low enough otherwise... Most people would not want to do that as the factory dont like anyone cutting any part of the structure...
I'd do it though.....
