So I've bought some of these together with springs off Ebay about a weeks ago.

I emailed the seller to get a delivery date and he comes back saying that Gaz are short of TVR shocks and he'll try again in about a week.

So is this guy a muppet who's got a mate working for Gaz who sometimes gets TVR shocks? Or is there a world shortage of these?

What's the consensus here?

I reckon the guy should have a stock to sell before he takes an order.

There does actually seem to be a shortage at the moment. I phoned round several companies before I ordered mine and they all said the same thing (that there was a backlog at the factory).

Ordered on 11th May and got them last Friday.

Slightly OT but I'd be interested to know how much you paid and if you fitted them yourself.

PM me if you want to.

Thanks.

I had my Gaz Golds on order for several weeks, received recently and will be fitted next week. Just very busy due to the demand, as I understand it. Should be worth the wait!

£599 including VAT and delivery (same price everywhere). Had them fitted by Dave Batty and the car is now transformed!

How much was fitting?

I'm planning to do it myself but I'm getting a bit past this sort of car mechanics these days.

If out of stock, why not pay a little more & go for Nitrons, which are a level above, IMO.

1 bolt at the top 1 at the bottom very easy to do, Was gonna do it myself but then my mates garage said they would do it for £50 so I let them get on with it.

OK - anyone with Golds remember what stiffness adjustment they're running front and back on a Tam?

I've heard that Nitrons are great for track use but not needed for road use.

I like the rebuild element to Golds.

Theoretically they should last for years as long as rebuilds are fairly cheap.

I've got Gaz Gold on my Corrado and I can't say I'm totally impressed with them to be honest. Especially as one damper went soggy within the year.

If I were spending the money again I'd go for KW Variant 2 or 3. Mainly because their Corrado kit was actually tried on a Corrado. Although, to be totally fair to the person I bought them from, my Gaz Gold setup was a custom job and was not sold as a Corrado kit as such.

But back to TVR, I would say that Nitron have a superb reputation in TVR circles and are the suspension of choice.

I have the new gold's which are a lot better than the previous version.

On the road I run 5 front & rear.

Nitrons are very good but are they worth double the golds?

they seem to be a bit cheaper at the mo £575 - piece of pee to fit and lets you bond with your Tiv!!! Best bit of kit I've bought.

Thanks for all the replies.

Still no shocks - guess I'll have to wait.

I'll fit them myself and think about paying for set up later.

Just want to get back behind the wheel - it's been 6 weeks now and I'm suffering!

Has anybody in this thread experience or even a setup with the "new" "orginal" Bilstein setup???
Are said to be a vast improvement over the older style original suspension so would be interest how close those would be to GAZ golds??? Also Pricewise

Sorry guys, we are selling 5+ kits a day for TVR and Gaz are doing their best to blitz the orders over the next few days by putting more bodies on building the backlog.
I thought we were in recession !!!

BTW, just sold the 1400th TVR kit to Dan Taylor.
The debate goes on, Nitron V Gaz and we just keep building the best shocks we can.

Just to clarify - I haven't bought my shocks from Derek.

I probably should have.
