Another aircon question

Hi,

I don't normally have the aircon on but have used it a couple of times over the past few days.

When its on I've noticed the cooling fan(s) come on/off even though the water temp is fairly low, even when in the 50s/60s they turn on/off. With aircon off they don't come on until the high 80s (tvr power lower temp chip fitted).

I know the fans come on if the aircon is over pressure but if that's the case wouldn't they be on all the time and not cycle ?

What should I check or is this normal behaviour ?

Is the trinary switch known for failing ?

I had a new one fitted about 2 years ago because the old one had a leak.

I'll see if tvr power will check it when I'm there on Friday.

Trinary switch failure causes fans to run permanently.
I have a spare Paul if you want to try it. Fitting it however looses you the gas out of your aircon system when you remove the old one.

With the AC on the fan will cycle on and off to maintain the correct pressure in the system.

With the AC switched on it isn't running all the time as it cycles on and off on the stat which will also bring the fan on and off.

Yes. Do you find that when the AC is on and before the water temp gets high enough to bring in the fans that just the drivers side fan cyles in and out?

If so all is well as the AC condenser is that side.

Thanks Lee, that is exactly what I saw the other day when the weather was hot.
I couldn't remember it doing that before but it's a long time since we had hot weather.
