Hi all, I am in the middle of organising a stag trip up to Edinburgh and was looking for a bit of advice from the PH faithful who are familiar with that area of the world.

On the Friday we are looking for a decent place to eat. As there are 12 of us I was thinking curry so any suggestions there would be appreciated....but open to ideas on any other nice places that would suit big groups.

Haven't got a clue where to go boozing so all suggestions welcome. Want to avoid usual stag/hen venues and find some Edinburgh gems if possible.

Thanks

Thats the one, few beers by the time we ended up there so it could have been called The Woolpack for all I cared!

The Nine Cellars at the east end of York Place for an Indian. Short walk from there to Rose Street for the pubs. Don't miss The Guilford if you like your real ales, east end of Princes St, tucked up the lane next to Burger King.

Theres a nightclub up the road from the Grassmarket that is massive. 7 floors, all down.

Avoid it, its hideous.

Espionage. Think it might be still shut though after the fire that destroyed the best Indian in town - Kushi's - next door. And it's 5 floors smile

Khusi's is open again! West Nicholson Street next to the Pear Tree. Same menu smile

http://www.khushisdiner.com/ BYOB, no corkage as they are proper Muslim folks, purveying proper food.

They don't "do" staggy do's although I have been there on one.

Alternatives? Vittoria on George IV Bridge is a good Italian for large groups. The Outsider next door can do a twelve. Same area again, I was at Haman's last week, another BYOB. http://www.hanams.com/
Nice middle-eastern grilled meats etc. but you can smoke a nice apple shisha over turkish coffee outside smile before going to the Bow Bar for some nice whisky.
As long as you're not all getting dressed up as Elvis I'd just book one of the above. Can recommend more eateries and plenty decent pubs too if you want. Where are you staying?
